SUMMARY:Tireside Chat - National Treasures: Preserving America's Automotive Legacy
DESCRIPTION:National Treasures: Preserving America’s Automotive Legacy\n\nOnly 38 vehicles in America have earned a place on the National Historic Vehicle Register. Now\, for the first time\, eight of these remarkable automobiles are displayed together in one location. Experience National Treasures\, an extraordinary exhibition at Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville\, Georgia.  Showcasing vehicles recognized for their significance to American history and culture\, this rare collection offers a unique opportunity to see some of the nation’s most important automobiles up close. In conjunction with this unique exhibit\, the museum will hold a Tireside Chat on August 29\, 2026\, at 7:00 pm featuring Historian Casey Maxon and Heritage Specialist Preston Rose of the Hagerty Drivers Foundation\, along with Author Ken Gross\, who will moderate the discussion.\n\nAccording to the Hagerty Drivers Foundation\, “The National Historic Vehicle Register is the only federally recognized program that records the history of America’s most significant automobiles\, preserving their information in perpetuity at the Library of Congress. Following the model of preservation work and legislation that has existed at the federal level for significant buildings\, bridges\, and airplanes\, but never cars\, the Historic Vehicle Association (now the Hagerty Drivers Foundation) initiated a collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2013 to include automobiles in the Historic American Engineering Record through a National Historic Vehicle Register program. The vehicles …(on the list) demonstrate the vast impact cars have had on all aspects of American history. Following criteria set forth by the Heritage Documentation Programs and the Secretary of the Interiors Standards\, many more vehicles will be added in the future.”\n\nThe eight vehicles currently on display at Savoy include:\n\n1938 Maserati 8CTF “Boyle Special”\n\nNHVR No. 3\nHAER No. IN-112\nOn loan from Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum\n\n\n1918 Cadillac Type 57 (U.S. 1257X)\n\nNHVR No. 4\nHAER No. WA-225\nOn loan from Marc & Christie Lassen of Sequim\, WA\n\n\n1920 Anderson Six Convertible Roadster (34142)\n\nNHVR No. 13\nHAER No. SC-44\nOn loan from the Collection of Kathleen & Paul Ianuario\n\n\n1985 Modena Spyder California (Ferris Bueller “Ferrari”)\n\nNHVR No. 22\nHAER No. MD-192\nOn loan from Bob Winegard\n\n\n1966 Volkswagen Deluxe Station Wagon (Esau and Janie B. SUMMARY:Tireside Chats Series - Chevrolet's Indomitable Corvette...
DESCRIPTION:From its inception in 1953\, Chevrolet’s Motorama-inspired Corvette sports car was billed as “America’s Sweetheart.” The jaunty roadster pioneered fiberglass bodywork\, but its vaunted “Blue Flame 6” was insufficient to inspire sporty performance. When Chevrolet’s powerful small-block V-8 engine bowed in 1955\, transplanted European engineer/racer Zora Arkus-Duntov insisted the new engine be installed right away. But only 700 examples were sold that year\, and the Corvette was nearly dropped from the GM lineup. Subsequently equipped with many engine\, suspension\, and brake upgrades\, the ‘Vette began a successful career in SCCA racing. At the same time\, styling boss Bill Mitchell began secret development of the Corvette Stingray. With its razor-edge styling and a vast array of power plants\, culminating in the Cobra-fighting Gran Sport\, the next generation ‘Vette became a world-beater sports car\, and its proud lineage continues to this day. \nOn March 21\, 2026\, at 7:00 pm\, join Corvette authority Lowell Paddock\, a contributing editor for “Corvette\, a Piece of the Action\,” along with award-winning writer and museum consultant\, Ken Gross\, for a scintillating discussion of the Chevrolet Corvette and its fascinating history. On display\, in the Savoy’s new Corvette-themed exhibition\, are twin Harvest Gold 1955 Corvettes\, # 699 and #700\, the 1959 Stingray Racer silver prototype\, the 1969 Corvette Manta Ray\, and other exciting examples. \nA reception will occur at 5:30 for those wishing to purchase tickets. The Savoy Cafe will serve hors d’oeuvres along with beer and wine for purchase. \nTickets – Register here \nLegacy Member – Program and reception – $15 – Please contact Destanie Hunt at 470.490.8225 or by email at dhunt@savoymuseum.org to reserve your spot.\nMember – Program Only – $15 | Reception and Program – $30\nGeneral Public – Program Only – $30 | Reception and Program – $55

SUMMARY:Tireside Chat - American Small Cars with Derek E. Moore\, Curator of the Lane Motor Museum
DESCRIPTION:Think size doesn’t matter? Think again. Not all American cars were the big\, gas-guzzling\, expensive machines you might expect. Some were small\, efficient\, and—dare we say—perfectly proportioned. American Austin/Bantam and Crosley began making these compact\, fuel-friendly vehicles starting in 1930\, proving that good things come in small\, well-engineered packages. Join Derek E. Moore\, Curator of Lane Motor Museum\, on February 8\, 2025\, at 2:00 pm\, as he takes you through the history of these little wonders\, showing you the vehicles that truly made a big impact\, despite their size. It’s going to be a talk that’ll leave you reconsidering what “big” really means. \nTickets\nMembers – Complimentary \nGeneral Public – Complimentary with museum admission \nThe TireSide Chats speaker series is presented by Styles Auto Care \nLearn about membership. \n  \n
