Debuting in 1953 as the 2100, later shortened to the 210 or Two-Ten, the car quickly achieved star status. Designed for those for whom the Bel Air was a bit too pricy, the 210 offered a variety of options: a convertible, Sport Coupe hardtop, and two and four-door sedans and wagons. The car was stylish and sported the most popular feature of the era – fins, and a choice of two OHV engines and a 3-speed automatic Powerglide transmission.
Although this car started as the affordable 210, during the restoration process it was upgraded to a Bel Air (and then some). The original six-cylinder engine was replaced with a V-8 engine, the original Bel Air never even dreamed of sporting. Also, the standard issue “3 on the Tree” manual transmission was upgraded to a “4 on the Floor” Muncie with a Hurst Shifter. With all the upgrades this former 210, A.K.A. a Bel Air, is now a race car designed to be driven on the street.
