Ford’s Mustang caught General Motors completely off guard. Neither the Corvair nor the Chevy Nova II produced serious competition to Ford’s industry bombshell. Pressed to stay abreast, in just over two years Chevrolet launched the Camaro. Then, 35 years later Chevrolet dropped a bombshell of its own, the ‘02 Camaro would be the last. Die-hard fans believed this was just a temporary cessation, but Chevrolet wasn’t pulling any punches. The age of the Camaro was over.
Available only as an SS model in either a bright red T-top coupe or convertible, this Anniversary edition came loaded with goodies. Under the forced air induction hood was a V-8 engine. A high-performance ride and handling system made driving the car a dream. Topping off the exterior trimmings was the unique front grill, silver-embossed “Camaro” between the taillights, and exclusive 35th Anniversary SS badges. With a special limited-edition package, the Camaro embarked on its bon voyage and sailed into the sunset with class.
