1931 was an important year in Ford Motor Company’s history. On April 14th, the 20 millionth Ford rolled off the assembly line. The year brought a deepening of the Depression, and manufacturers faced dwindling car sales. To attract buyers, companies such as Ford had to provide something special. This was the last year for the Model A. It was time to close the book on one of the most reliable, trouble-free cars ever produced.
The Model A served as a bridge between the Model T and the modern-era production vehicle. The Model A bowed out with revised styling and several new body designs. Comfortably seating up to five passengers, the Town Sedan offered families an attractive choice during tough economic times. It confirmed Ford’s ability to produce quality mass-market cars while innovating and adapting to changing consumer needs and demands. This vehicle is an Antique Automobile Club of America Senior National Award Winner.
