The Model 40 was a completely new model for Ford and was introduced February 9th, 1933. The new design change was substantial compared to the previous year. The wheelbase was stretched from 106 in. to 112 in. The grille was redesigned with a pointed forward slope at the bottom. The hood louvers curved down and forward. Headlamps were acorn-shaped and their support bars were removed. All models, regardless of body color, were delivered with black fenders and 17-inch wire wheels.
Ford produced 10 body styles of the Model 40 (14 counting Standard and Deluxe trim models) and sold 311,113 of all models for the 1933 calendar year. Ford conducted several fuel economy runs with the 1933 Model 40 ranging from the Mojave Desert to the Catskill Mountains, averaging between 18.29 and 22.5 MPG. This car has received an engine and transmission transplant, which includes a Chevrolet V-8 engine and Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 transmission.
