John and Horace Dodge founded the Dodge Brothers Company in Detroit, the city of the Big Three (Chrysler, Ford, and GM). After acquiring a fortune supplying Ford Motor Company with parts, John and Horace Dodge’s response to entering the car manufacturing market was: “Just think of all those Ford owners who will one day want to buy an automobile.” By 1914, they were building cars under their own name. In 1928, Dodge became part of the Chrysler Corporation.

According to the original Owner’s Instruction Book for this truck, “Your new Dodge is the safest car engineering genius can build.” This 1936 Dodge Pickup was part of a well-known Mopar collection before joining the Savoy Museum. This is an entirely rust-free example with just 46,000 miles on the odometer since new. This rare and seldom-seen example runs and drives greatly, solidifying the Dodge Brothers’ claim of building great vehicles that people would want to buy.
