The Custom Super Clipper was one of Packard’s “21st Series” cars built between 1946 and 1947 after World War II. Facing stiff competition from other marques such as Studebaker and Kaiser-Frazer, Packard pushed the design forward into the postwar production phase. Cars featured Art Deco motifs both inside and out, with flowing lines and integrated fenders. They were simply elegant. The Custom Super Clipper and other Clipper models demonstrated Packard’s premier status in design and manufacturing.

The Custom Super Clipper, when new, was rarely seen. A production run of 5,690 Club and Touring cars guaranteed exclusivity. Today, the collector’s appeal for these cars is very high. Then and now, the Packard “21st Series” cars are regarded as top-tier luxury cars. They were awarded Milestone status with the Milestone Car Society. In addition, they received full classic status with the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA).
