Packard introduced the Clipper badge in 1941. When post-war production of passenger vehicles resumed, Packard dropped their other lines and focused on the Clipper. However, in 1948, the Clipper name disappeared, only to re-emerge in 1953. Designer Richard Teague revamped the old body design and added a new grill and windshield, giving the car a whole new look. Company president Nance divided the brand into Packard and Packard Clipper. His ultimate goal was to make Clipper a separate marque and reestablish Packard as a line of luxury cars.
This car has 9,512 original miles. In showroom conditions, it was garage-kept its entire life. Except for the battery, everything, including the tires, is original equipment. There is no rust. The interior is smoke-free and child-free, with spotless wool broadcloth upholstery. This car exemplifies the high-quality vehicles that rolled off the manufacturing line at Packard. It is also part of the last class of Packard-made Clippers produced before the plant closed in 1956.
