Ford introduced a new mid-priced brand to better compete with General Motors and Chrysler in 1958. The Edsel came in four separate series and 18 models. The upper-level Corsair featured a Mercury-inspired body and a generous application of chrome. The two-door hardtop coupe started at $3,311.

A 1958 brochure for the Edsel shows the four series with the 18 mid-priced models. This wealth of choices included Citation, Corsair, Pacer, Ranger, station wagon, two-door, four-door, hardtop, and convertible, each at varying prices and multitudes of color combinations. The Edsel Division only produced vehicles during model years 1958 to 1960, after which the brand was discontinued.
