Following significant changes in 1963, the 1964 Chrysler models were not radically redesigned. The 300 series was Chrysler’s go-to intermediate line, which came in 2-door, 4-door, and convertible models. Styling similarities often caused confusion between the 300 and the higher-powered, luxury 300-letter cars. Two-door models, like the one shown here, were the most popular of the 300 series produced.
Chrysler still struggled sales-wise despite a broad offering of vehicles in every price range. For the fourth straight year, the company placed 11th in production in the industry. The “Sport” designation for the 300 was dropped. However, mid-year introduced a 300 “Silver Special” with a silver exterior finish, black vinyl roof, and black leather/vinyl interior. In addition, anyone wanting to “Move up to Chrysler” would now receive a 5-year/50,000-mile warranty.
