Lincoln’s Town Car debuted in 1981 and in 1994 it was still embracing its 1960’s roots of “understated elegance.” Eschewing the over-abundance of chrome, Lincoln developed “the Continental look” which was classic, but not stodgy, and definitely not flashy. 1994 marked the third generation of the badge and once again Lincoln solidified its reputation in the luxury car market that the Continental was not just a mere form of transportation.

The exterior was reminiscent of the limousines of movie stars and dignitaries. Traditional in appearance, the Town Car offered modern conveniences including keyless entry and a luxurious interior that featured automatic climate control. Other manufacturers adopted more aerodynamic and even sporty profiles. Lincoln, and the Town Car, remained bastions of classic, elegant aesthetics and serene ride quality. That formula placed the Town Car at the forefront of luxury car design, setting an example for others to emulate.
