Plymouth launched the first-generation Prowler in 1997 with a 214 HP version of the single overhead camshaft V-6 engine. Customers expected more performance from the engine, so in 1999, Plymouth modified the engine for the second generation using the new 253 HP version of the aluminum V-6. The Prowler’s weight was kept low using aluminum for the vehicle’s body, frame, and suspension components.
Traveling in a Prowler is often compared to a motorcycle ride with higher-quality accommodations. The storage offered in the Prowler provides a tight, compact squeeze for any belongings. Plymouth remedied this by giving an optional trailer corresponding to the vehicle’s design. Not a spacious vehicle, the Prowler’s interior serves luxury with leather upholstery, modern technology, and a key fob for remote locking and unlocking.
